I'm Alessia, Principal UX Product Designer at GRID Finance, where I lead the adoption of a design experimentation culture and early product discovery through usage and user analysis.
With over 6 years of experience, I specialise in digital product design, user experience, and both qualitative and quantitative research methods. I excel at identifying gaps in the digital experience and uncovering opportunities to meet user needs while aligning with business goals.
My work doesn’t stop at the screens. I care about how teams decide what to build, I mentor designers who are growing in the field, and in my spare time I explore other areas of design.
Requests used to reach our tech team from every direction, often through Slack, with no way to track or prioritise them. I helped design a new way of working: a Tech Initiative Committee that evaluates every business initiative on the strength of its case. I defined what “good” looks like: a problem statement backed by evidence (analytics, interviews, social listening), a link to a company OKR, and a view of the teams and processes involved. Anyone in the business can propose an initiative. The process is in its test phase, and the first two initiatives have already made the roadmap.
Who knew I’d love mentoring so much? What started as a way to connect and give back to the UX community, following in the footsteps of the incredible mentors I’ve met throughout my career, quickly became something I genuinely look forward to each week. Mentoring not only allows me to support emerging talent but also helps me grow in leadership, empathy, and communication. It’s a two-way exchange that continues to shape me as a designer and a person.

Ever since we bought our first home in 2022, it feels like the experimenting never stops. “What if we turn this room into a shared home office?” or “Could we add drawers in the stairs?” are just a few of the daily questions I throw at my (very patient) husband, who’s inevitably pulled into my newest design experiments. One piece of furniture at a time, I’m Feng Shui-ing our space into something that works and feels better.
